About the event
Kihew Awasis Wakamik Cultural Society offers seven-week grief circles to Indigenous people ages 16 and up. Each circle has a maximum of 15 participants.
Circles begin with a pipe ceremony. They are facilitated by two of our Aunties experienced in supporting families through grief. An Elder is present to share their knowledge and experience. Each week includes Elder and Auntie teachings on topics related to the grief journey as well as a sharing circle for participants.
Snacks and beverages are provided.
A small childcare subsidy is available. On-site childcare is not available. The childcare subsidy is intended to offset the cost of participants arranging their own childcare off-site and will be paid weekly after each session.
A sweat is offered to participants following the circle's conclusion.
