About the event
Kistehitah kimeskanām (honour your journey/road) is a project arising from the identification of unmarked graves at former residential school sites across Turtle Island. It comes from a vision of a path lined with baby moccasins leading to a beautiful healing lodge. A pipe ceremony was held for the start of this project with Elder Ruth Cardinal de Ubiera in 2021. The moccasins (maskisina), moss bags (wâspisona) and crib sized star blankets created as part of this project will honour the children who were sent to the schools, the new spirits coming into the world today and spirits journeying home.
An Elder or knowledge keeper will be joining us to share their teachings and Indigenous language. The items made during the circle will be gathered together in ceremony and gifted to little ones arriving from the spirit world or relatives journeying home, which means the maskisina, wâspisona and star blankets creat…

This ticket is for a two weekend workshop (Nov. 29-30 and Jan. 10-11) 10 am-6 pm all four days. A light breakfast, lunch, afternoon snacks and beverages will be provided. Childcare subsidy available on request.
